A consortium comprising Andritz Hydro Brasil, Andritz Hydro Inepar and IESA Projetos has received an order to supply and install the electromechanical equipment for the Batalha hydropower station from the Brazilian federal utility, Furnas Centrais Elétricas.

The Marine Renewable Energy Promotion Act of 2009 looking at the development of marine and hydrokinetic energy resources has been introduced in the US House of Representatives and the companion legislation has been introduced in the US Senate.
